About Laura
I grew up loving dogs and have built my business on this love. Every dog I work with or simply socialize with becomes a special part of my life. I was always the little girl who found the dogs needing a home. I am still doing that today! I grew up in South Florida and graduated from the University of Florida. I have lived all over the U.S. and in the summer of 2011 I moved to Bulverde, TX.
I began formally training dogs in 2005. I am a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) as well as a professional member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) and a member of the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC). I am also a AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluator. I have been attending the IAABC conference since 2016 and attended many APDT Conference since 2010 to continue expanding my knowledge even further. I volunteer at animal shelters where I help train basic obedience and relaxation to the dogs in hopes of making them more adoptable. I believe there is no cookie-cutter approach to training. Each dog is different and each dog learns differently. There are many different techniques to apply and I try to vary my techniques based on the individual dog.
I offer complimentary counselling to those who adopt or foster rescue dogs. I also enjoy being a foster parent myself and specialize in shy and troubled pups and help them through a rehabilitation process in hopes to make them adoptable. I also enjoy fostering stray litters and giving them a positive start to life.
My passion for shelter and rescue dogs goes even further. I help match shelter dogs to families looking for 4-legged companions. Understanding your needs, wants and schedules is important before choosing a new pup. I want to help you make the best choice so that your home is the pups forever home!
I believe exercise is the key to good behavior. Keeping your dog fit is not only good for his health but also for his behavior. The more fun you have with your dog the more well behaved they will be!
